A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words, A Thousand Pictures Is A Headache™

At 4D Imaging Systems™, we know that taking a picture is a simple way to capture a dense amount of information about an object, a feature, or a place. We also know that a practical and efficient workflow is needed if you plan on taking a lot of pictures. That's why our products and services are focused on what we call 4D Photo Imaging™.

4D Photo Imaging brings the capabilities and benefits of photography and medical imaging together into a turnkey, cost effective solution you can quickly deploy at your organization. Photo Imaging avoids the complexities and ad-hoc nature of point-and-shoot digital camera based photography and adds in basic image archival and retrieval capabilities with none of the large expense of a full-blown medical Picture Archival and Communications (PACS) system or a commercial Document Image Management (DIM) system.

Because our 4D Photo Imaging solutions are built using Open Systems Standards, you can rest assured that the photo images we organize and manage for you will be easily accessed and transferred to other business systems that need to use photo images. Whether you are currently using or planning to use an electronic records system to manage your key customer information, or you are still relying on paper-based records, 4D Photo Imaging will provide you a simple and turnkey solution for automating your photo-imaging organization and access needs today.

Isn't A Consumer Digital Camera Enough Of A Solution?

Digital cameras have become ubiquitous, enabling pictures to be taken at the push of button. Shooting pictures in Auto-Mode leaves it to the camera to setup everything you need to snap a quick picture. Most digital cameras come with photo software that allows pictures to be copied and put into folders.

A digital camera creates data files that are stored to a compact portable memory card that can store 100s or 1000s of pictures. Take pictures, preview them on the camera's LCD screen, delete the ones you dont' want, and save the rest. When your memory card is filled up, take the pictures to a computer, make a folder or two and copy the pictures over.

With the price of digital cameras now less than $99, you would would think stepping up to a $150 or $200 camera will give you everything you need to get consistent, high-quality photography for use in your practice. You might even think that merely pointing your camera phone at what you need to document and taking a picture that you send to your personal email account will do the trick.

Is couldn't be any easier, right?

Unfortunately, finding the right solution to easily and make sense of your visual data up until now has been a challenge.

The Hidden Digital Picture Challenges

Once you start taking pictures, you will find that things are not so simple.

  • Does each practitioner or med-tech have their own digital camera, or is there one digital camera shared by multiple people?
  • How do you know who or what is in the picture you took?
  • What do you do with the picture after it's taken?
  • Do you copy picture files into a folder named for today, or named for the patient, or named for the feature depecited in the picture?
  • Do you print out pictures for long term storage or do you set up a mechanism for backup of your digital picture folders.
  • The questions can go on and on.
  • Taking a few pictures is simple and easy. Using photography in your practice workflow is not.
  • That's why 4D Imaging System is focused on providing photo imaging solutions that will take all the pain away from using visual documentation in your practice.
